Residential FAQs
What is the difference between soft washing and pressure washing?
Soft washing uses low pressure with the right cleaning agents to remove organic growth like algae and mildew. Pressure washing uses higher pressure for durable surfaces like concrete. For siding and many home exteriors, soft washing is usually the safer choice.
Can high pressure damage siding?
Yes. High pressure can force water behind panels, damage seams, lift paint, and cause problems around windows and trim. That is why we use soft washing for most house washes.
What does a typical house wash include?
A house wash commonly includes exterior siding and visible trim. If you want specific areas prioritized, like the front entry or garage face, tell us during booking. Learn more on our
Soft Wash page.
How long does a house wash take?
Most homes take a few hours depending on size, access, and buildup. Larger homes or heavier organic growth can take longer.
Will soft washing remove green algae and mildew stains?
In most cases, yes. Soft washing targets organic growth, which is the source of most green staining on siding and shaded areas.
Do you clean roofs, and is it safe?
Yes. Roof cleaning should be done with the correct low-pressure method to avoid damaging shingles. See our
Roof Cleaning Service page for details.
Do you clean gutters or just the outside?
We offer both. If you need debris removed from inside the gutters, book
Gutter Cleaning. If you want the exterior brightened to reduce tiger striping and visible staining, book
Gutter Brightening Service.
Can you clean driveways and walkways?
Yes. Concrete and stone surfaces are great candidates for surface cleaning. See
Driveway Cleaning and
Concrete Surface Cleaning.
Will you remove rust stains or hard water spotting?
Some stains come off with standard cleaning. Mineral deposits, hard water spotting, and rust can require specialized treatment. We will set expectations after we see the surface condition.
Do you clean decks and patios?
Yes. We clean patios and many exterior living surfaces. See
Deck and Patio Cleaning.
Do you offer exterior window cleaning?
Yes. We offer exterior window cleaning for homes and commercial buildings. Learn more at
Exterior Window Cleaning.
Are you insured for residential work?
Yes. We carry insurance appropriate for residential and commercial projects. If you need documentation before scheduling, request it during booking.
How often should a home be washed in the Capital District?
It depends on tree cover, shade, and moisture. North-facing walls and heavily shaded properties usually need cleaning more often than homes with full sun exposure.
Do you use ladders or work from the ground?
It depends on access and the surface. We choose the safest and most appropriate approach for the job and conditions.
